Kobe 81 Point Game

Deepening the relationship between Kobe, Nike, and fans — live.

The Moment

When Kobe Bryant decided to join Twitter, there was no playbook. He called us and said he wanted to launch with something unforgettable. This was one of the most iconic athletes in the world stepping into a new, public space, with plans to be just as prolific here as he was on the court.

What I Did

I discovered that Kobe had never watched his 81-point game. I turned that insight into the idea.

We partnered with NBA TV to re-air the game on its seventh anniversary and designed a live experience where Kobe could watch it in real time, react, and talk directly to fans as it unfolded.

My role was to concept the idea, pitch it to Kobe and Nike, then shape the experience end to end — creating the structure, orchestrating the run of show, and ultimately getting out of the way. The goal was simple: give Kobe the clarity and confidence to be fully himself, live.

What Became Possible

Fans didn't just rewatch history. They experienced it alongside the person who lived it — turning a legendary performance into a shared, once-in-a-lifetime moment. The conversation even helped thaw Kobe's relationship with Shaquille O'Neal, as the two went back and forth reliving the game together.
